Australian low-carb keto company Locako has signed an exclusive deal with Woolworths to have three of its collagen snack bars in stores across the country.
It's Locako's first foray into a national supermarket chain and marks a major milestone for the Australian business run by mother-of-two Ally Mellor.
Starting with an initial investment of $ 2,000 while juggling a newborn baby, Ms. Mellor has grown Locako into a million dollar business that has grown 400% year over year as more Australians adopt a low-carb, keto lifestyle.
"We have doubled production to meet the requirements of a national scale and forecast that our snack range will grow by 50% as a result of the partnership," says founder Ally Mellor.
As part of the partnership, Locako has developed two new flavors of its popular collagen snack bars exclusively for Woolworths – Chocolate Hazelnut and Chocolate Caramel and will also sell its Beauty Collagen Brownie Bite in berry white chocolate.
"Locako's pasture-raised collagen snack bars are low-carb, gluten-free, low-sugar, and good for intestinal health, with 10% collagen, which is about half the recommended daily allowance for maximum health benefits," Mellor continues.
"Collagen is the most abundant naturally occurring protein in our bodies, but its reserves decrease with age, leading to wrinkles, weaker nails, brittle hair, joint degeneration, muscle loss and digestive problems."
Locako has offered 30 different "clean, healthy and nutritious products" since its inception, including collagen mousse, monk fruit sweetener, keto powder and a new beauty line that contains beautifying collagen and hyaluronic acid as well as native ingredients from indigenous communities such as cockatoo and Davidson plum.
