Amazon Australia has made significant investments in its operations network this year, expanding it to provide a seamless, faster, and more reliable shopping experience for customers across the country.
In recent months, the company has further strengthened its infrastructure with a new fulfillment center and new Amazon Logistics locations.
Amazon Australia expanded its fulfillment network in Australia in 2021 with the opening of its second fulfillment center in Melbourne in August. This has increased warehouse capacity by 60% and increased available storage space for small and medium-sized Australian businesses using Fulfillment by Amazon to seamlessly serve customers across Australia.
The company now has over 3.86 million cubic feet of storage space, and the addition of the new location has doubled Amazon's capacity for larger items, from boxes of soft drinks and beer to hot air fryers to electronics like computer monitors and sound bars. Network.
Delivery network strengthened
Amazon has strengthened its delivery network in Australia with the introduction of Amazon Logistics locations and its last mile delivery service Amazon Flex in three new cities: Newcastle, Gold Coast and Adelaide.
With 14 Amazon Logistics locations across Australia providing access to an enhanced delivery experience for more than 18 million Australians, including faster delivery, evening and weekend delivery, and repeated deliveries for customers when they are away.
In addition, the company now works with more than 2000 Amazon Flex delivery partners in seven Australian cities, offering flexible earning opportunities for those interested in delivering Amazon parcels to customers.
Parcel collection network expanded
The latest research commissioned by Amazon Australia has shown that every second Australian has used parcel pick-up as an alternative delivery location.
Amazon has expanded its package collection network with lockers and counters and added more than 300 new locations across Australia over the past year to give customers more choice and control over where and when their packages can be collected. There are now more than 800 Amazon lockers and counters nationwide in cities and towns across Australia, including Townsville in Queensland, Happy Valley in South Australia, and Barragup in Western Australia. They are located in convenient locations such as shopping malls, banks, gas stations and newsagents and offer customers a safe alternative delivery location.
Amazon has also announced an extended returns window for the holiday season, with most items purchased between October 1st and December 31st can be returned until January 31st, 2022.
