Woolworths is opening a new multi-million dollar online customer fulfillment center in Lidcombe, NSW.
Designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for home delivery in West Sydney, the opening is a timely decision ahead of the busy Christmas season.
The 15,000 m² site is equivalent to 12 Olympic swimming pools and is Woolworth's largest online hub in Australia. Up to 900 new jobs will be created for private customers.
Annette Karantoni, Director of E-Commerce at Woolworths, says more and more customers are turning to online grocery delivery.
“To keep up with demand, we are investing in a new online infrastructure to offer our customers more delivery windows and an even more reliable service.
"This is especially important when we head out for Christmas when customers are busy looking for ways to reclaim time with loved ones."
The Lidcombe outfit was completed by Mainbrace Constructions, the Australian retail specialist, and created around 300 jobs during construction.
