Kellogg's Australia and New Zealand announce expanded support for OzHarvest and Food Bank. You agree to increase food donations by 1 ton per month for the next 6 months, which is approximately 150,000 servings of grain.
AdditiKelloggs has donated only 215,000 portions of muesli and snacks to Food Bank and Ozharvest in Australia and to City Missions * in New Zealand.
This commitment adds to the company's more than 3 million servings that it donates annually to several charities and breakfast programs.
"It is difficult to think about the scale of this health crisis and the heartbreaking impact on people's lives, especially in vulnerable communities," said Esme Borgelt, managing director at Kelloggs Australia.
"Food aid agencies such as the Food Bank, OzHarvest and the city mission in New Zealand report an enormous increase in the demand for food aid from families who are increasingly suffering from food insecurity."
The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic will continue for a long time. It is imperative that companies look for creative ways to increase support.
It has been reported that at least once a week, one in three Australians does not eat a full day and a number of people seeking food aid from charities continue to grow *. Around half a million people in New Zealand suffer from food insecurity – this corresponds to 10% of the population **.
“As a food company, we play a vital role in fighting food insecurity and feeding the needy. We are doing more than ever to ensure that our food continues to reach vulnerable children and families, ”explains Ms. Borgelt.
