Warehouse costs only a click on away

Costco Australia has launched an online shopping offering that allows customers to order selected goods and have them delivered to their home or business.

As with buying in one of Costco's 11 physical warehouses across Australia, buyers must be members. Membership ranges from $ 55 (business membership) to $ 60 (Gold Star membership). Members must also register for an online account to take advantage of the new offer.

What's on offer?

According to Costco, online shopping is an additional benefit for membership of a cardholder and should complement the inventory.

The current online range mainly consists of non-food products. A very small amount of food and liquor is also available.

Patrick Noone, general manager of Costco Wholesale Australia, says the online items will be "largely different and unique" than those available in the warehouse.

"It is supposed to be different to offer our members additional value and access to an expanded offering for the camp," he says.

Current product categories include electronics, kitchen and laundry equipment, home & furniture, barbecue & outdoor living, home improvement, sports & fitness equipment, jewelry & watches, wine & spirits, clothing, luggage and handbags.

According to Noone, Costco will continue to expand and expand the offering and keep our members up to date with new and current purchases.

"We will continue to expand the non-food offering (and) we will introduce food / food and fresh food departments at a later date in the future that have yet to be determined."

Delivery and pricing

The shipping costs are included in the price stated on the website for each individual item. Radiant Laundry Powder (8 kg) costs $ 38.98, while Lavazza A Modo Mio Passionale coffee capsules (pack of 96) cost $ 36.35.

Members in different parts of Australia have access to different areas. For example, buyers in South Australia and Queensland have no alcohol.

The availability of certain items is expected to change with the launch of the offer. Initially, small items and pack sizes are delivered nationally, while medium / large items (ie large TVs and larger ones) are only delivered to metropolitan areas on the east coast. This will be expanded later.

"We will expand the delivery zones as we grow and advise members when we open delivery zones," says Noone.
