There is no better time to plant a garden and make it environmentally friendly than this summer! Given the pandemic and panic in the world, making your own food has never been so important. So you can make your own food, but also make it natural without using pesticides or chemicals. We promise it will be easier than you think!
Save precious rainwater
Water has become one of the most valuable goods in the world, and it has become quite expensive too! Next time it rains, don't let the rainwater go to waste, but find a system that conserves it. Installing pistons on any rainwater downpipe that directs water into oak barrels or plastic tubs is a good start. Consider installing an underground tank or well that saves water that you can use to water your garden. If you have a flower garden that needs a lot of water in the summer, you can also use rainwater to feed your flowers. If you have Dutch tulips in your garden that need a lot of water, you should definitely save rainwater. Whichever system you implement, it will be a smart step forward to go green and save the planet.

Consider natural pest control
You don't have to use harsh chemicals in your garden because there are so many natural ways to get rid of pests and diseases. You can use powerful water jets to repel aphids, use copper snail rings to control snails, and plant plants that naturally repel pests such as lavender. Sit down, have a drink and research natural pest control. You will be glad you did, because there are many ways to fend off pests with things you may already have in your kitchen cupboard!

Encourage wildlife to do the work for you
Snail-eating hedgehogs, worms, ladybugs and birds are just a few friendly animals waiting to do the work for you. Dress these animals with things they like. For example, snail-eating hedgehogs and slow worms love tree trunks and piles of leaves. Birds love food like dried fruits, sunflower seeds and dried fruits. Consider building a ladybug beetle hotel that will be happy to do the work for you and is nice to look at in the meantime!

Set up a compost heap
Homemade composts are easy to make and very effective to recycle and feed your garden naturally. You can save tons of money by simply recycling your waste and then using it as compost for your garden. You can add things like grass clippings, wood ash, vegetable bowls, tea bags, egg cartons, leaves, newspaper cutlets and cardboard to your compost pile. Then let the worms do the work and in a few months you should have a nice compost for your garden!
