SMCs LE collection: Appropriate with 16 motor producers

media release

February 2020

The LE series from SMC fills the technological gap between complex, conventional electrical actuators and air-driven standard cylinders and offers its customers a number of performance advantages.

From simple installation and improved flexibility to improved performance, this series is the perfect solution for applications with existing motor platforms that now require a customized solution.

According to Jozef Ceh, Manager for Digital Transformation – SMC ANZ, the motorless option is available for a number of electrical actuators in the LE series, including the LEFS slide type, the LEFB slide type, the LEJS slide with high rigidity, the LEY- Rod type and the LEYG-guided rod Art.

"The LE series is compatible with 16 engine manufacturers, some of which are Rockwell, Mitsubishi, OMRON, YASKAWA, Beckhoff – along with many others."

More about the LE series

LEFS electric drive, sliding type, ball screw drive (AC servo motor, 100/200 / 400W)

The original LEFS slider offers various options for the motor mount. With a compatible guide, it becomes an ideal solution for the construction of portal systems and heavy offset loads

  • Height: 25, 32, 40
  • Maximum workload: 60 kg
  • Maximum speed: 1500 mm / s (H line)
  • Stroke range: 50 to 1000 mm in steps of 50 mm
  • Repeatability of positioning: ± 0.02 mm

LEFB electric actuator, slider, belt drive (AC servo motor, 100/200 / 400W)

The AC servo version of the LEFB slider has a flexible motor mounting option to allow protruding loads. As a belt driven option, it is perfect for long stroke applications to cross lighter loads and high speeds.

  • Height: 25, 32, 40
  • Top speed: 2000 mm / s
  • Maximum stroke: 3000 mm
  • Repeatability of positioning: ± 0.08 mm

LEJS, electric drive, ball screw drive with high rigidity (AC servo motor (100 / 200W)

The LEJS is an electric slide drive that is only available with an AC servo motor. “This actuator has a much wider load mounting platform than the LEFS, which is internally supported by a two-axis linear guide to reduce torque deflection. The AC servo motor enables higher speed and acceleration as well as an exclusive size 63 LEJ model.

  • Height: 40, 63, 100
  • Maximum workload: 135 kg
  • Maximum speed: 1800 mm / s (H line)
  • Maximum stroke: 1500 mm (2500 mm * LEJS100)
  • Repeatability of positioning: ± 0.02 mm

LEY, electric drive, rod type, AC servo motor (100/200/400 / 750W)

The AC servo version of the LEY rod has an AC servo motor instead of a DC version. The AC servo motor enables higher speed, acceleration and pressure force as well as a size 63 model, which is not available in a DC version.

  • Body sizes: 25, 32, 63 & 80
  • Maximum workload: 200 kg (horizontal); 115 kg (vertical)
  • Maximum compressive force: 3343 N.
  • Maximum stroke: 800 mm
  • Repeatability of positioning: ± 0.02 mm

LEYG, electric drive, type with guided rod, AC servo motor (100 / 200W)

The AC servo version of the LEYG guide rod has an AC servo motor instead of a DC version. The drive has a screwed-on bearing block with double guide rods that withstand torsional and transverse loads. The AC servo motor enables higher speed, acceleration and pressure force. Height: 25, 32

  • Maximum workload: 60 kg (horizontal); 46 kg (vertical)
  • Maximum pressure force: 736 N.
  • Maximum stroke: 300 mm
  • Repeatability of positioning: ± 0.02 mm
  • Bearing types: plain bushes or ball bearings
  • Maximum permissible torque: 5.76 N • m (sizes 32, 40; stroke dependent)
  • Non-rotatable accuracy of the plate: ± 0.05 ° (plain bearing); ± 0.06 ° (ball bearing) bottom of the mold

In addition, the JXC91 series, the stepper motor control solution from SMC, can be used to integrate EtherCAT, EtherNET IP or ProfiNET communication. It is easy to install, easy to use and requires less labor due to the reduced wiring. “The JXC91 is the perfect companion for the LE series because it monitors the status of the actuator and can change the actuator's motion data. It is ideal for assembly, filling and conveying applications. "Jozef concludes.
