Which online site was the most popular during the Christmas quarter (Q4)? The top online stores have been revealed.
Electronics, bargain websites, and department stores made up the majority of the top 50 largest retail websites, according to online visibility management and Saas digital marketing platform Semrush.
In the second quarter (Q2), Bunnings grabbed first place, but Amazon pulled back a bit and took over the online retailer's crown for the fourth quarter.
“Semrush's traffic data captured online consumer behavior for the top 50 retail websites in Australia. Traffic trends show a huge demand for whole house products and a surge in visits to bargain websites, ”says Semrush, communications director. Fernando Angulo.
Angulo explains the types of purchases made over Christmas: “Technology aside, Aussies stocked up on all the home activities and items during the 2020 Christmas quarter, with electronics, outdoor and housewares seeing the biggest changes year after year ".
The fourth quarter saw some of the largest online shopping sales of the year. JB Hi-Fi saw more than 10 million viewers quarter-over-quarter, and a number of clothing retailers also saw strong increases.
"The data suggests Black Friday sales weekend and Boxing Day sales were a big contributor to website spikes, as traffic for clothing stores like Myer, David Jones and City Beach increased more than 14 quarters from the previous quarter % has increased, "says Mr. Angulo.
