Old El Paso and Nick Kyrgios double up on "Make Some Noise for Australia".
The aim is to bring the fans of all Australian professional tennis players together in front of their home major and to donate Mexican meal sets to those in need through Foodbank Australia.
Due to the limited attendance at Melbourne Park this year, Old El Paso and Kyrgios are finding a new way to create a meaningful connection away from the stands.
Every time * an Australian player plays a match in Melbourne. Old El Paso and the NK Foundation will donate 100 meal sets through Foodbank Australia to help support Australians at risk.
Kyrgios has recruited a number of Australian champions including Alex DeMinaur, the current men's number 1, evergreen legends Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Stosur, and fan favorites Matt Ebden and Daria Gavrilova to get the message across.
Players will try to get fans to raise their Foodbank meal kit donation list by asking them to share the #MakeSomeNoiseForAustralia social video on Instagram.
One fan share corresponds to a donation of an additional meal set **.
"As tennis players, we are harnessing the energy of an audience and it will definitely be a different experience this year," says Kyrgios.
"The #MessFreeChallenge was a huge global success and I urge my fans to step back behind our Aussies and support those in need across the country who are facing food insecurity."
Peter Everett, general manager of General Mills Australia, says they have already raised 12,500 donations for Mexican food sets during their recent tour of tournaments in Melbourne for the tennis summer 2021.
Kyrgios continues, "Over the coming tennis summer, I encourage Australian fans to #MakeSomeNoiseforAustralia for our players to support donations to Foodbank Australia through the NK Foundation. It's a no-brainer," he says.
Brianna Casey, CEO of Foodbank Australia, said: “The last 12 months have been a difficult time for all of us, but it has been extremely difficult especially for vulnerable families who were struggling to get food on the table before 2020.
"We invite all Australians to stand behind this great initiative and of course to cheer on our tennis stars."
* All Australian tennis pros will play a tour match of singles, doubles, mixed doubles and wheelchair events between January 31 and February 21, 2021
** Old El Paso through the NK Foundation will donate up to 25,000 food sets in the tennis summer 2021.
