Japanese retailer, MUJI, is set to reopen its store at The Galeries Sydney on Friday, 22 August, following a five-week temporary closure.
The new-look store “promises” an elevated shopping experience that reflects MUJI’s minimalist approach to simplicity and thoughtful design. The reimagined store will feature expanded product categories, refreshed interiors and updated customer touchpoints.
Leading the fit-out is Affective Building Services in collaboration with Melbourne based architecture firm ACRD, drawing on traditional Japanese design principles and the brand’s minimalist ethos to create a welcoming, functional space. The layout has been carefully considered to enhance customer flow and overall shopper experience, according to the retailer.
The refurbishment signals MUJI’s commitment to investing in the Australian market and creating retail environments focused on functionality and optimising the in-store experience. As part of the upgrade, self-checkout has been introduced for the first time to MUJI Australia, offering added convenience for shoppers.
“We’re excited to welcome customers back to our store at The Galeries, which has been thoughtfully redesigned to offer a refined and more intuitive shopper experience,” says Michio Fukino, Managing Director of MUJI Australia. “This upgrade to our Sydney store is part of our broader commitment to growing MUJI in Australia.”
To mark the reopening, The Galeries store will also become the exclusive Australian stockist of MUJI’s renewed sensitive skin care series and newly launched pre lotion and booster serum, available to shop for the first month exclusively at The Galeries. “Rooted in the power of nature, the skin care range is formulated with 100 per cent naturally derived, gentle yet effective ingredients, such as fermented rice bran and eucalyptus leaf extract.”
The reimagined Galeries store will open at 10am on Friday, 22 August. Customers will be among the first to experience the space and shop the exclusive skin care range.
