Drakes Supermarkets has been selected as the flagship supermarket retailer for the $150 million Two Wells Town Centre north of Adelaide.
According to Leyton Property, the partnership with Australia’s largest independent and family-owned grocery retailer is a major milestone for the real estate developer’s vision to transform an 8ha site into a vibrant town centre.
“We are delighted to be partnering again with Drakes Supermarkets, another proudly South Australian-owned business that we believe will be best positioned to provide an exceptional offering to the local community,” says Leyton Property Managing Director Hamish Brown.
“Drakes is a proud supporter of local manufacturers and suppliers and we are confident that their investment in the Two Wells community and wider Adelaide Plains region will be positively received.”
The 3500sqm supermarket will be one of Drakes’ largest by footprint in South Australia, employing up to 200 people.
Customers can expect Drakes’ unique offerings such as The Little Kitchen, Nonna’s Pasta, F’Real Milkshakes and in-store popcorn. The store will also feature a “generous” service delicatessen.
“As a proudly South Australian, family-owned business, Drakes is very excited to be part of the next chapter of Two Wells’ deep and storied history and heritage,” says Drakes Supermarket Managing Director Roger Drake.
“We pride ourselves on our commitment to local communities and we look forward to engaging with and working with the Two Wells community as much as possible.”
The supermarket is promoted as a critical component of the Two Wells Town Centre’s circa $60 million first stage, which will also include speciality tenancies, a food and beverage precinct, childcare centre and swim school.
Plans for Stage One will be lodged this year with construction scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025 and be completed in 2026.
