Product of the Yr extends formal partnership with Retail Media

Australia’s largest consumer-voted awards program Product of the Year announces the formal extension of its partnership with leading retail industry group, Retail Media.

2023 marks the 15th anniversary of Product of the Year (POY) in Australia, and during this time Retail Media has worked as the foremost media partner to the annual awards program. Now, the two brands announce a formal extension on this partnership, with Retail Media now onboard to manage, gather and collate entries for the upcoming awards season.

Retail Media will now be the main contact for POY entries across all categories, with the goal to not only widen the awareness of the awards to a broader audience, but also to drive continued support for winners throughout the duration of their win.

The decision to formally partner with Retail Media has been top of mind for POY in recent years, as its close connection to brands and clients within the retail sector is second-to-none, and with a great depth of knowledge on latest product trends and innovations, POY believes this partnership was the strategic next step as the awards enter into its 15th year.

Product of the Year Director Sarah Connelly says, “I am absolutely delighted to be working more closely with Retail Media in this new partnership. We have enjoyed a strong working relationship for 15 years now, and it made perfect sense to join forces and leverage their extensive experience and knowledge in the industry as our primary sales partner. Both Retail Media and POY believe this partnership will allow them to reach a wider audience and help hero innovative new products that otherwise would not get the recognition they deserve amongst Aussie shoppers.

As the world’s largest consumer-based awards, POY aims to provide wider recognition to local supermarket brands, as well as serving as a shortcut for shoppers in helping them save time and money to find the right products. All POY applicants undergo a rigorous testing process whereby they are put before a panel of industry experts, before being voted on by over 5000 Australian shoppers.

For brands wishing to enter into the upcoming 2024 POY awards, the deadline has been extended until 30 June 2023. Eligible products must have been launched between 1 October 2021 and 31 May 2023 and demonstrate innovation in some way.
