Harris Farm Markets has opened its flagship store in Albury, NSW.
According to the retailer, the 4,450 square meter store will be the largest of its kind and employ 150 people from the local community.
The Albury store will also be the first in the Harris Farm chain to have a cleaning refill station equipped with environmentally friendly, non-toxic, Australian-made cleaning products from local start-up Unpackaged Eco. Customers can buy their first product bottle in a reusable glass bottle and then refill it in the store for an alleged "fraction of the price".
According to Irene Chen, founder of Unpackaged Eco, this is the first time the company has launched its refill concept in NSW. She hopes this will be the first of many.
"We started Unpackaged Eco because there was an urgent need to address our single-use plastic problem in Australia," said Ms. Chen.
“We love the in-store refill model because it's a great way to completely remove plastic while creating an engaging shopping experience.
"After successfully launching 25 service stations in Victoria, we are delighted to be working with Harris Farm Markets to bring this concept to NSW's Albury Store."
