Darren Fullerton, Frucor Suntory's Chief Executive Officer

This year, Frucor Suntory became the first ANZ beverage company to introduce equal paid parental leave (PPL), which gives all eligible employees 13 weeks in addition to their statutory parental leave entitlement.
Recognizing the important role all parents play in a working family, Frucor Suntory's initiative is eliminating the gendered terms “primary” and “secondary” caregiver and offering 13 weeks of PPL to each new parent. In addition, the policy takes into account all parental agreements and new parent events, including adoption, surrogacy, and birth loss.
Since its inception earlier this year, more than 30 new parents have used the policy to give them extra time to create those special moments with their new baby.
Darren Fullerton, CEO of Frucor Suntory, says the new policy is a fresh and progressive approach that celebrates a moment in life that is really important.
“A large part of our workforce has families or plans them. So it made sense to reconsider the impact of helping our “working parents” employees.
“As any parent will tell you, raising or growing a family is important. Now both parents can take on the new challenge of parenting with the support of a gender equality policy.
"I believe this is an important step towards greater gender equality in the workplace and at home."
Frucor Suntory's new policy includes paid “stay in touch” and transition back to work days, as well as a commitment to continuously offer flexible work arrangements to support their employees as they get used to either becoming working parents or new ones add her family.
Paid Parental Leave is Frucor Suntory's first initiative to focus on promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization.
