As consumers 'appetites for plant-based alternatives increase, so too does Woolworths' range.
Today v2food is introduced in more than 600 Woolworths stores. This means that v2mince and v2burger are available in most branches.
"We continue to see growth in the vegetable category, especially in the last few months as customers cook more at home and seek variety in their diet," said Mauro Pisani, manager of vegetable categories at Woolworths.
In 2019 v2food created the Rebel Whopper by Hungry Jack and since then the company has developed v2burger and v2mince. Recently, the plant-based options were also launched through Marley Spoon and Dinnerly, as well as through QSR outlets like Soul Burger.
In addition, v2food products were launched in 61 Drakes supermarkets in August 2020.
v2food is launching its products with a retail price of USD 8.50 for 500g v2mince and USD 9.00 for a 4-pack of v2burger.
Nick Hazell, Founder and CEO of v2food, said, “With Woolworths v2 in over 600 stores, we now have a real chance to show Aussies how good plant-based meat can be and to help them choose foods that are better for the planet. I am incredibly proud of the scale v2food has reached in such a short time, which is a testament to the strength of our product.
"This is an exciting milestone for us and for Australian dinners."
