Social enterprise, Thankyou Group announces the end of Thankyou Water.
Most will recognize the simple black and white thank you label on a range of products from personal care to diapers, but now no more water.
In a blog post posted on Aug. 9, Thankyou's team explains the reasons for stopping their water bottles.
“We have said from the start that bottled water is a 'stupid product' and that it shouldn't exist – but while it does, we wanted to offer a better choice in the market that would help Bring water to those in need. We naively always thought that at some point we would find a solution that would be a win-win situation for humanity and the planet. We were wrong.
“We were looking for alternatives with biodegradable products and carton solutions, but to be honest, all in all where we ended up, it didn't feel any better than greenwashing. Each new step sounded better and tastier, it would tick a “green box”. But the deeper we looked and the more we thought about the life cycle of the alternatives, the more we realized that this is actually no better for the environment. "
Thanks to the motto “Empower humanity to choose a world without poverty”, you had to stop using your water bottles and realize that the last loads of water bottles will run out in the next few months.
Despite the suspension of the operation of water bottles, the team says:
“The best is yet to come and we believe that together we can be this great generation. In order to get where we want to go, we know that sometimes we have to take action and challenge (even our own!) Systems, structures and procedures. This isn't the end, it's just the beginning. Thank you for taking us on the journey! "
