Do you love online shopping and sustainability like me? Well, I have great news! Sendle is Australia's first 100% climate neutral parcel delivery service.
The company has taken the next step in its sustainable shipping mission by partnering with Bonds Couriers to launch the first fleet of solar powered electric vehicles for small business parcel delivery.
“The devastating bushfires this year were a terrible reminder of what is at stake if we do not take action to drastically reduce our CO2 emissions. Everyone, including business, plays an important role in creating a sustainable future, ”said James Chin Moody, CEO and co-founder of Sendle.
Sendle and Bonds take the responsibility to drive change in the industry seriously.
The fleet of 100% electric vehicles does not consume electricity from the power grid, but is powered by 319 solar modules on site at the Bonds depot in West Sydney. She can work a full 10-hour day and travel over 200 kilometers in metropolitan areas the day with plenty of cargo.
Each electric vehicle saves over 220 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer, which saves 44 kilograms of CO2 on a typical 200-km day of travel (which corresponds to the combustion of 19 liters of petrol) without the consumption of fossil fuels and no emissions.
Jonathan Ryce, CEO of Bonds Couriers, said: “Working with Sendle to introduce electric vehicles that are charged by our own solar system is a crucial moment for our business. Through our partnership, we have delivered more and more packages for small businesses in the e-commerce industry, and our customers are very interested in electric vehicles and sustainable shipping. "
Sendle and Bonds initially plans to have up to 20 solar powered electric vans on the road and will continue to expand the fleet over time.
