Capilano launches a low GI honey that offers Australians a sweet option with reduced sugar.
"We are excited to make honey more accessible to people with low GI levels by bringing out this specially selected blend of 100% Australian premium eucalyptus honey," said Ryan d’Almeida, CEO of Hive + Wellness.
"Because this honey offers slower and more sustainable energy release, it is also an alternative to sugar for consumers who want to lower their sugar intake."
Low GI Capilano honey has been tested by an independent low GI laboratory (42) using an approved methodology based on international testing standards.
"The naturally occurring sugar profile of this specially selected 100% Australian honey influences the way it is digested in the body and its GI rating," explains d’Almeida.
"We are very pleased to have the support of the Glycemic Index Foundation, with which we worked closely during the development phase so that consumers can buy this product with absolute confidence."
Kathy Usic, CEO of the Glycemic Index Foundation, said: “Low GI Australians are often faced with a frustrating and confusing search for natural sweeteners that are not only healthy but also enjoyable.
“We welcome this delicious new Capilano honey that has been independently tested and certified. Low GI with a rating of 42 compared to other honeys and sweeteners that can have a medium GI over 60. ”
Mr. d’Almeida said Capilano low GI honey would be available in Woolworths and select IGA supermarkets across the country with inventory already on the shelf.
