Like many companies across the country, Ideal Manufacturing looks to the future and what the government calls "new normal". "However," said ideal managing director Phillip Kalli, "more important than any order book, every new product launch or every balance sheet, all of our best thoughts currently go to everyone who is directly or indirectly affected by the virus – and especially to everyone." Incredible front-line workers fighting the virus right now. "
Kalli continued: "We are lucky to have a great team at Ideal who was willing and willing to help." Together we all try to find out carefully which orders we can set in motion – and how flexible we can be. We are really proud of that. On April 22, we reintroduced a skeleton production team. However, this does not mean a complete return to normal business operations. Anyone classified as risky or with increased concerns (or even anxiety) will continue to be shielded. Above all, we do everything to ensure the safest working environment for our entire team. To that end, we immediately introduced the following five controls based on the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the NHS. “The controls are:
- Hand hygiene – Ideal installed hand disinfection pumps on the entire site and made alcohol hand disinfectants available to the team for personal use.
- Communication & education – The latest government information has been shared with staff and clear guidelines have been shown in all community areas (see figure).
- PSA – Ideal has delivered the best PPE it can get: masks, gloves, face shield, disinfectant, soap and detergent.
- Social distancing – With <50% team members at headquarters, Ideal installed a floor conveyor to manage the workflow and maintain a distance of at least 2 meters. Canteens are closed.
- Temperature tests & self-diagnosis – Anyone with mild symptoms is asked to stay at home. The company has also asked for permission to perform temperature tests on the factory door.
“In this first phase of our return, we focused on prioritizing NHS and key worker-related orders while serving a carefully selected group of customers who have been hampered by the temporary cessation of our production. This is constantly checked.
“Also, we won't be able to work at normal lead times from the start, but we can start offering people a much needed product and we will do our best to communicate with everyone concerned. We will keep everyone up to date when we are slowly up to date. "
He concluded his message by saying: "Over the past few weeks we have found that there are many people who really rely on Ideal's products and services. We are very proud of that.
"We also felt real affection, loyalty, good wishes and good mood from so many people towards Ideal, our brilliant team and what we do, day after day." We have taken great comfort from it. Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to meeting you soon. "
