INTERNATIONAL
Sustainability, automation and artificial intelligence are among the main topics of Texcare International, the global meeting place for laundry and cleaning technology, which takes place from June 20 to 24 in Frankfurt am Main.
VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies (TFL) is the concept sponsor of Texcare International. Elgar Straub, managing director of VDMA TFL (picture), says that companies have great expectations for this year's Texcare International, as this will set the course for the coming years.
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important and will play a role for all exhibitors. Consumers' awareness of sustainability is also increasing, and with it the demand for more sustainable and resource-saving industrial production.
The EU Commission also prioritizes the topic. The EU Commission's Green New Deal will also affect and shape the textile care industry in the coming years. In this context, the topic of circular underwear is rapidly gaining importance.
The progress in digitalization offers enormous potential to further advance these problems. Automation and artificial intelligence, among other things, point the way to the future. Companies think ahead when it comes to laundry in order to improve connectivity and digitization and to advance digitization of the entire value chain. Conservation of resources, efficiency and hygiene are the most important goals.
Due to global changes such as increasing hygiene and living standards, the industry has extremely positive expectations for the future. "The growing global hygiene standards offer many new opportunities for the entire textile care sector. Therefore, our industry as a whole sees the future prospects as positive," says Straub.
The VDMA notes that after many very successful years, the entire German VDMA industry for textile care, fabric and leather technologies viewed 2019 as an unstable year and the economy experienced a significant slowdown. The US-China trade conflict and the unresolved Brexit situation were just two of the geopolitical crises that disrupted the markets. In the laundry and cleaning technology segment, German exports fell by 11.4 percent in the first eleven months of 2019.
Since these are all important target markets for the industry, the conflicts unsettle customers and reduce investments. For this very reason, Texcare is expected to provide a positive investment stimulus.
