Tinker of Gurtler receives the TRSA Maglin / Biggie Lifetime Award

Steve Tinker, senior vice president of research and development and marketing at Gurtler Industries Inc, Chaska, Minnesota, was recently named the winner of the Maglin / Biggie Lifetime Achievement Award by TRSA Association and Industry.

Tinker will receive his award during the Annual Awards Dinner on March 24, 2021 in conjunction with the 11th Annual TRSA Conference at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD.

Tinker has almost 50 years of experience in the industry as a product development scientist and marketing manager. He has developed and launched numerous institutional and industrial detergents and specialty chemicals. At Gurtler, he is currently responsible for the development of new products, company quality assurance, product maintenance and on-site technical customer service.

TRSA Chairman Jim Buik of Roscoe Co. noted that the Executive Committee's decision "was a well-deserved recognition of Tinker's commitment and contributions to the industry. The TRSA Maglin / Biggie Lifetime Achievement Award is only given to professionals who recognize their exceptional personal service for our industry and the associations that serve the industry. "

Tinker has promoted the value of TRSA for the industry and supported the association through his work on the TRSA Healthcare Committee, of which he is a founding member. In addition to the TRSA Education Committee, he chaired this committee and has worked with various professional development programs for TRSA. Over the years, he has published numerous articles on a variety of washing technologies in specialist publications, including textile services. Tinker is also very active in other industry-related organizations, including a leadership role with the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA).

The Maglin / Biggie Award is named after the late Rudolph A. "Rudy" Maglin, a chemical supplier who ended his career with the Dober Group (Spindle Technologies) in Woodridge, Illinois. and James Biggie, the laundry identification specialist at Penn Emblem Co., Philadelphia. Since 1987, 23 people from associated member companies have been awarded Lifetime Achievement Awards.
