UMF Corporation, which researches and develops high-performance infection prevention and commercial cleaning products, programs, and training, announced today its partnership with Universal Fiber Systems (Universal), a leading US manufacturer of synthetic filament and specialty fibers.
UMF will provide Universal with its patented antimicrobial, rechargeable, registered trademark Micrillon Chemistry for incorporation into two high-performance fibers. The first, a superfine shell and core fiber, is manufactured and used in a new, unique product that is requested by leading companies in the hotel industry. The second, a split component filament, commonly referred to as microfiber or segmented pie filaments, is also made. These two Micrillon fibers are converted into different types of yarn for woven and knitted textiles such as gloves, dresses, towels, curtains, wipers and other products.
"UMF has focused on infection prevention through high-performance products, training, and programs for over a decade," said George Clarke, CEO of UMF Corporation. “The COVID-19 pandemic has sharpened the global focus on infection prevention. Businesses have woken up to a new normal, where keeping the spread of infections in all industries is a top priority. The innovative products, all made in the United States and which we will develop in collaboration with Universal Fiber Systems, are more important than ever as the world struggles to reduce the risk of COVID-19.
