TSA asks smaller independents to register

United Kingdom
David Stevens, CEO of the Textile Services Association (TSA), encourages smaller independent laundries to join the association as the industry gets to grips with the effects of Covid-19 and looks to the future. In his ninth catch-up message to the industry, he also reports on the progress of initiatives to mitigate the effects of the ban.

Stevens reports: "The focus of the past few days has been on creating guidelines for the reopening of laundries in the hospitality industry." The TSA continues to lobby for hospitality status and may eventually make progress on the reusable clothing project, albeit with virtually no government support. We are now ready to publish the industry’s updated economic report, ”he said.

Hospitality grant
"The number of companies recognized as part of the hospitality industry (or other eligible sectors) has increased to 14. If you have been accepted, please contact us as this will help us stay with our lobby message If you prefer to be anonymous or if you just want us to share your advice / region, please let us know. If you are accepted or if you encounter a recoil from your advice please email us. "

Reusable clothes
"We are slowly making progress, despite virtually total lack of government support. What has been agreed in principle when we do all the work, they will give him a stamp of approval and publish it as a recommended agreement. This week we have started to work more closely with NHSI who supports the project and PCIAW, a trade association for apparel and textiles manufacturers, who have had similar experiences as we have in working with the government, with the aim of getting them involved in procurement and procurement. We will look at the maintenance element and then return to the government with the solution. We have another project call this Friday, so more next week. "

Membership boost
“Since the blockade began, we've opened our communications to the entire industry to ensure that we can all work together and deal with the crisis. Since we will likely be in this new world for some time, it has been agreed with the board that we should limit this in time, ”he said.

“We are now communicating with over 50 non-members, which is fantastic and hopefully everyone benefits from the work of the TSA in some way. As a trade association, we absolutely want to have the entire industry on board. That is why we would like to try to get all smaller independent laundries that are not yet registered as members to join.

“We are also aware that this may not be the best time to invoice you. Therefore, we have agreed that if you register from the end of July, we will issue you with the full free membership for May and June. We will contact you all with a sales declaration so we can tell you how cheap it will be! Once you have made a commitment, we will issue your membership login to our website, which gives you full access to all resources and benefits. Remember that all of our income is spent on promoting and supporting the industry. The more members we have, the more we can do. "
