Uber Eats has launched Dine Out with Uber Eats in Australia, a world-first feature for the delivery app.
Debuting in Sydney, Dine Out is expected to give consumers access to more “affordable” dining options, while helping restaurants fill seats during the traditionally slower winter season.
According to Uber Eats, the launch marks its next phase in supporting Sydney’s hospitality industry, going beyond delivery and venturing into dining out to provide a positive boost to restaurants. It’s also promoted as the latest step in the Uber Eats platform becoming a one-stop-shop for all things food and essentials, all through one “seamless, integrated tech experience”.
“When I joined Uber Eats in 2016, we had a few hundred restaurant partners. Today, we support over 60,000 merchants across Australia – and we’re always looking for new ways to back the industry,” says Uber Eats ANZ Managing Director Ed Kitchen.
“Aussies know us for bringing local food to their door, but they also love dining out. That’s why we’re launching Dine Out with Uber Eats in Sydney – a global first – offering exclusive in-restaurant deals with rides built in. It’s about making eating out more affordable and giving restaurants a boost during the quieter winter months.”
Sydney was selected to lead the global launch thanks to its thriving restaurant scene and tech-savvy diners, marking the first time Australia has piloted a new Uber Eats product of this scale.
House of Eats
To mark the launch, Uber Eats is hosting House of Eats, described as a one-night-only pop-up bringing together some of Sydney’s most “iconic and beloved” institutions for a “fun-but-fancy” feast curated by acclaimed chef Danielle Alvarez.
On 8 August, diners will gather at shared tables inside House of Eats in Darlinghurst, a relaxed, Uber Eats green-hued space with velvet drapes, food-inspired centrepieces, intimate lighting and a bespoke playlist that evolves with each course.
The four-course degustation will showcase exclusive dishes from Dine Out partner restaurants, including Rose Bay waterside institution Catalina, Italian neighbourhood favourite Fabbrica, and cult burger barons Mary’s. Each course will be paired with a curated selection of wines from P&V, sourced exclusively from NSW.
House of Eats is free to attend, but tickets are limited and expected to go quickly. Spots will be released in pairs at 9am AEST today (29 July) via Humanitix. There will be two sittings on 8 August (5pm-7:30pm and 8:30pm-11pm), taking place at Rainbow Studios, 348 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst, NSW.
On 9 August, between 8am and 10am, the crew from Harry’s Bondi will pop up with a free brekkie, featuring a lemon and ricotta stuffed croissant roll with white chocolate and pistachio drizzle, topped with a pistachio crumb, alongside a mandarin coulis varietal of their famous canned matcha.
