Unilever donates $ 182 million to help fight the pandemic by donating soap, disinfectant, bleach, and food.
This contains:
- Donation of at least $ 91 million in soap and disinfectants to the World Economic Forum's COVID action platform, which helps global health organizations and agencies respond to the emergency. Unilever will also adapt its current production lines to produce disinfectants for use in hospitals, schools and other institutional facilities.
- Product donations, partnerships and hand washing programs run by national health authorities and NGOs to support the most vulnerable local communities.
- In Australia and New Zealand, Unilever factories operate 24 hours a day to fill the shelves with essential groceries, personal care and cleaning products.
- Unilever responded quickly and donated Dove soap to the Department of Education of New South Wales for distribution to schools suffering from bottlenecks due to inventory.
- Funds have also been provided to help Foodbank NSW and ACT employ paid casual workers rather than voluntary groups that have been canceled due to new social distance rules.
Customers and suppliers
Unilever offers $ 912 million cash flow relief to ensure livelihoods in its expanded value chain:
- Pay early for their most valuable small and medium-sized suppliers to help them with financial liquidity.
- Granting loans to selected small retail customers whose business relies on Unilever to help them manage and protect jobs.
"We are deeply saddened by the terrible effects the coronavirus has on life and livelihood everywhere," said Alan Jope, Unilever CEO.
“The world is facing the biggest process in decades. We have seen the most incredible response from the Unilever team so far, especially those who are at the forefront of factories, distribution centers and stores. "
Unilever manufactures brands such as Dove, Rexona, Lifebuoy, TRESemme, OMO, Surf, Streets and Continental.
