Woolworths Group’s health subsidiary, HealthyLife, has launched a new grocery shopping tool aimed to help take the hard work out of shopping for Aussie families.
On sale now, the HealthyLife Trolley Divider will provide “easy guidance” on the recommended proportions for a balanced diet, separating consumer’s trolley into the core food groups in line with the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
The new tool follows the recent analysis in the ‘Living Healthy Report’ which included over 900 million aggregated grocery transactions at Woolworths. It revealed that Australians aren’t eating enough of the five core food groups. In particular, the data highlighted a “staggering decline” in vegetable intake year on year, with Australians now purchasing only 2.6 of the recommended five serves of vegetables per day.
With Food Tracker powered by HealthyLife available through Everyday Rewards, too, HealthyLife says “grocery shopping has never been easier”. The Food Tracker also now allows Australians to stay on top of their added sugar, salt and saturated fat consumption with the new Nutrient Tracker.
Simone Austin, Accredited Practising Dietitian, and Chief Health Officer at HealthyLife, says it’s more important than ever for Australians to make the most out of their grocery shops.
“At HealthyLife, our goal is to help all Australians live a healthy life and we do this by providing evidence-based advice and innovative tools like our Food Tracker tool, that’s been used by over 260,000 Australians,” she says.
“We know grocery shopping can sometimes be overwhelming, with so many options to choose from, achieving a nutritionally balanced basket can be a challenge. To help shoppers get the recommended balance of core and discretionary foods, we have created a bespoke Trolley Divider with five labelled compartments for each of the core food groups and one smaller divider for sometimes foods.
“We hope that by using both the trolley divider and Food Tracker, customers will be able to assess the food groups they are purchasing and if they need to, add more foods like fruit, veggies and grains to provide enough healthy meals and snacks for their household.”
The HealthyLife Trolley Dividers are available exclusively on the HealthyLife website for $35.
