Unbiased Liquor Group opens doorways at new Queensland DC

Independent Liquor Group (ILG) has opened its new distribution centre in Swanbank, Queensland, marking the completion of a purpose-built facility that will anchor the cooperative’s logistics operations across the state.

The facility, located within the New-Gen Business Park, spans 30,846 square metres across a two-level, 517sqm office and a 14,983sqm warehouse with full racking for order fulfilment. The warehouse incorporates a dock office, material handling equipment (MHE) charging area, and temperature-controlled zones which are purpose-designed to support ILG’s growing product range and membership base.

“The Swanbank DC project has created new employment opportunities and bolstered economic activity in the surrounding areas, aligning with ILG’s mission to empower regional communities,” according to ILG. “Strategically positioned between Brisbane’s South-Western and Ipswich Industrial Precincts, the facility sits 45 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD and six kilometres south-east of the Ipswich CBD, providing direct access to key highways connecting south-east Queensland’s major freight corridors.

“Today’s ribbon cutting ceremony marks the culmination of a capital investment of ~$28m million, developed under a build-to-lease arrangement with developer and landlord EMKC3 and constructed by CIP Constructions. Project management was delivered by supply chain and logistics specialists TMX Transform, who represented ILG throughout the design, procurement, and delivery process.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by all parties involved in the project.

Independent Liquor Group CEO Paul Esposito says: “This facility is a major step forward for ILG and for the members and communities we serve across Queensland.

“We’ve built something that is genuinely fit for purpose, designed around how we operate, how we grow and how we support the licensed venues and bottle shops that rely on us every day.

“As Australia’s largest member-owned liquor cooperative, investments like this one are how we deliver on our commitment to members. This is about building the infrastructure that keeps us competitive, keeps our service strong and future-proofs our operations – ensuring the cooperative remains successful for the next 50 years and keeping true to our mission of supporting the longevity of independent operators across the liquor industry.”

TMX Transform Director Sam Dellios says: “Independent Liquor Group (ILG) had a clear vision for what this facility needed to achieve for its cooperative network. Through a highly collaborative approach across design, procurement and delivery, ILG has created a facility that will support a significant number of member businesses with improved supply efficiency and serviceability into the future.”
