A new era of hydration has arrived with the launch of CocoGen, the “world’s first functional organic” coconut water. Australian-founded, CocoGen is “redefining the beverage landscape and setting a new standard in the functional drinks category”, according to the company.
Crafted from organic Vietnamese coconut water and enhanced with “targeted functional ingredients”, CocoGen delivers clean, natural hydration that supports energy, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
Setting a new benchmark for innovation, CocoGen is “free from artificial colours, flavours, dairy, gluten and GMOs. It is not made from concentrate; it’s crafted from pure, organic coconut water for maximum freshness and nutritional integrity”.
Positioned as a natural sports drink alternative, CocoGen delivers “25% more electrolytes* than leading coconut water brands, providing enhanced hydration without unnecessary additives”. Each 500ml bottle is designed to “refresh, replenish, and recharge, fuelling active, modern lifestyles with organic hydration made for everyday performance”.
The CocoGen range includes three hero formulations:
- CocoGen + Electrolytes – with five essential electrolytes and 25% more hydration power* than leading brands.
- CocoGen + Magnesium – delivering 700mg of magnesium sourced from North Atlantic seawater to ease muscle tension, aid recovery, and support mood.
- CocoGen + Collagen – containing 5g of Hydrolysed Collagen Peptides, sourced from Germany and certified halal and kosher, to support healthy skin, hair, and joints.
CocoGen Co-Founder Damon Gorrie, who has spearheaded global brand campaigns for Pepsi alongside icons including David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera – founded CocoGen after identifying a clear gap in the market for a premium functional coconut water that delivers “enhanced nutrition, organic quality, great taste, and seamlessly fits into both the active day and social night lifestyles of modern consumers”.
“We wanted to take something naturally incredible and make it even better,” says Mr Gorrie. “Coconut water has always been refreshing, but with CocoGen, we’ve created a drink that works harder, hydrating while supporting your skin, muscles, mood, and performance.
“As the only organic coconut water in the functional beverage space, CocoGen contains 17% less sugar and calories per 100ml* than conventional options, offering a lighter, cleaner choice for everyday wellness.”
Sourced from Vietnam, CocoGen partners with local farming families who have cultivated coconuts for generations. “Together they’ve built 7,500 hectares of organic farms, using organic fertilisers and bio-pesticides only. Each coconut is harvested within 50 kilometres of the factory to ensure maximum freshness, minimal processing, and superior nutritional integrity.
“We know how important coconut water has become, it’s high-growth, health-led, and loved by consumers. But we also believe it can work much harder. While other leading coconut water brands have done a brilliant job establishing the category, innovation so far has been around flavour only,” Mr Gorrie said.
Globally, the coconut water market is forecast to reach USD $11 billion by 2030, growing at 17% CAGR, while in Australia, the category is projected to reach AUD $1.3 billion by 2033. With the functional drinks sector already valued at AUD $2.5 billion and expanding at 6.3% CAGR, CocoGen enters the market at the ideal time, meeting rising consumer demand for hydration that does more, according to the company.
Following its recent successful debut in Singapore, where it is now stocked in over 110 retail locations and served across Meta offices, CocoGen’s Australian launch marks the brand’s official entry onto the global stage.
“As wellness culture accelerates worldwide, CocoGen is redefining the functional beverage category with responsibly crafted, performance-driven coconut water engineered to fuel the pace, performance and lifestyle of the next generation.”
CocoGen (RRP $5.50 for 500ml) is available online at drinkcocogen.com.au and through select premium independent retailers and curated local cafs across Sydney and Melbourne, with a national rollout to follow.
