Ratings of over 2,000 supermarket shoppers have been revealed and it is decided: IGA has the best supermarket deli.
Surveyed as part of the Canstar Blue Most Satisfied Customers Award for Supermarket Delis, IGA has come out on top with a top rating of five stars for overall satisfaction, freshness of products, customer service, product range, and layout and presentation.
Last year’s winner, Woolworths, received five stars for the categories of value for money, product range, and layout and presentation, with Coles also receiving the same result.
How often and what are shoppers buying from supermarket delis?
One-fifth of shoppers will purchase something from the deli counter on every grocery trip, with the survey showing:
- 50% of shoppers prefer buying from a deli counter because it allows them to choose the weight of what they’re purchasing
- 40% think deli products are fresher and better quality than the pre-packaged items,
- Just over one third (34%) say buying from the deli counter works out cheaper.
- Deli meats such as salami and ham are the most popular item purchased, followed by poultry, seafood and then cheeses.
- Younger shoppers are more likely to purchase products such as olives, antipasto and soft cheeses, while those in older demographics are more likely to visit the deli counter for deli meats.
