Woolworths has released a new reusable bag collection that the retailer hopes will make packing “even easier” at self-checkouts.
The Click & Stay reusable bag range features a mechanism that clicks into place at the top of the bag to ensure it stays open. For shoppers who might be using self-checkouts for their weekly shop, the retailer says it’s a new concept that helps with packing products.
With the recent introduction of Scan & Go across 30 stores, the bags have also been designed to fit inside the Woolworths green trolleys to make grocery shopping “even faster”.
Beyond its functionality, these new bags add a “splash of fun” with three distinct designs featuring “beloved” Australians icons:
- The “charming” Cockatoo & Wattle design.
- The “delicious” Coffee & Finger Bun design.
- The “playful” Famous Aussie Things print, which includes nods to “iconic elements” like fairy bread, quokkas, and the hills hoist.
There’s also a famous Australian location or two on the bags, from Cape Byron Lighthouse to Bungle Bungles Purnululu National Park.
“We really wanted to bring a bit of fun to our latest bag design, celebrating what makes Australia special with classic Aussie icons and that ‘if you know, you know’ charm,” says Woolworths bag expert Rhonda Ma.
“These bags are designed for life beyond the supermarket – think picnics, work commutes, or a day out at the beach – as they’re functional and durable for everyday use.
“And importantly, they solve a challenge for some shoppers who have a larger number of items in their basket to checkout: they click open and stay open, making packing even easier, which is a solution we know some of our customers using self-checkout and trailing Scan & Go have been asking for.”
The Click & Stay reusable bag collection is rolling out nationally to stores in the next week, with each design available for $4.
