Califia Farms is launching three new plant milks this week. The additions include Original Oat Milk, Vanilla Oat Milk and Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend.
Sydney dietitian and nutritionist Rebecca Gawthorne welcomes more dairy free options, especially when they don’t compromise on nutrition or taste.
“A lot of people worry that replacing dairy milk with plant-based alternatives will mean they’re not getting key nutrients, but it’s not the case if you choose wisely,” she says.
“Califia’s new plant milks are not only delicious, but (they) all have no sugar added, and are fortified with an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D. Plus oat milk is a source of dietary fibre which is important for gut health.”
Adding to this, Califia Farms General Manager of Sales Australia Henry Catts says the brand’s new almond and oat milks are a really simple way that people can increase their calcium and Vitamin D intake.
“For example, per serve our Original Oat Milk has over 30% of your daily calcium needs and 18% of your recommended Vitamin D,” he says.
“Califia’s Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend (also) has a whopping 58% of your daily calcium needs and has an extremely low amount of natural sugar for a barista almond milk. It’s easy to steam and froth so is perfect for the at-home barista as a partner to our super popular Oat Barista Blend which is served in over 6,000 cafés nationally.”
Ms Gawthorne notes that other plant perks include the products being cholesterol free, low fat, and are more sustainable than dairy.
“I love using Califia’s plant milks in coffee, smoothies, on muesli, baking and anywhere else you’d normally use cow’s milk,” she says.
“Their new Unsweetened Almond Barista Blend is especially great for coeliacs while the oat milks have a creamy mouthfeel similar to dairy. The Vanilla Oat is also delicious for something a little different that the whole family will love.”
Califia Farms’ new Original Oat Milk, Vanilla Oat Milk and Almond Barista Blend will be available exclusively at Woolworths nationally in the long-life milk aisle. They join Califia’s “extremely popular” Oat Barista Blend which can also be found in independent supermarkets.
