Do you sweat at home in the summer months? Here are some ways to keep your home cool!
It can be difficult to keep your home cool during the summer months, especially if you don't have air conditioning. Here are some tricks you can use to keep your home cool during the hot summer months.
Repair your air conditioner
If you have air conditioning, you're in luck! Air conditioning repairs are just a few things to consider in summer. Make sure it's in tip-top shape and well maintained to avoid outages, especially during the summer heat waves. If you don't have air conditioning, check out these tips on how to keep your home cool in the summer.
Ventilate your home early in the morning
Getting up early in the summer months is a heavenly experience, peace and quiet, birds chirping, light already at 5 am. The weather is nice and cool, the perfect time to ventilate your home and let in the cool, fresh air. Use this time to let fresh air into your home by opening windows and doors to create a draft. Then close the windows and doors before 8 or 9 a.m. depending on what time it gets hot to trap the cool air inside. You'll be glad you did!
Lower the blinds and close the shutters
If you are lucky enough to have shutters on your windows, you will be surprised at the difference they can make when they are closed. Shutters protect the windows of your home and prevent the hot rays of the sun from heating up the interior of your home. Make sure these shutters are closed, especially in areas of your home that receive lots of direct sunlight.
Change the sheets on your bed
It can definitely get hot in your bedroom during the summer months. A great way to keep yourself cool is to take out a fresh pair of clean sheets. Choose 100% pure cotton and stay away from warm flannel sheets that will make you even hotter.
Plant shade outside your home
Planting trees and bushes outside of your home and near windows and balconies is a great way to ward off some of the hot summer sun rays. I love building arches over windows and planting climbing vines or roses on them. What a fun way to add some color, make your home look super cute, and keep your home cool!
