A "decadent and scrumptious deal with" from Whittaker & # 39; s

Whittaker & # 39; s launched Whittaker & # 39; s Cocoa Pods advertised as the "ultimate locally made premium treat or gift".

They're also a great innovation, the company says after more than five years of development and investment in new, state-of-the-art factory equipment.

According to Whittaker & # 39; s, the Cocoa Pods have a creamy milk chocolate shell refined with 33% cocoa with five rolls and a "wonderfully soft" core of hazelnut gianduja. They each have an “elegant and unique shape” that resembles a natural cocoa pod. Each individually wrapped portion is a “generous” 12.5 g that can be enjoyed in “two delicious bites”.

Holly Whittaker, Whittaker's Co-Chief Operating Officer, says the company is excited to offer a new premium chocolate just in time to give away for the upcoming holiday season.

"It took us several years to get to this point because we are living our 'Best is Always Better' promise," she says.

“One of the main challenges for us was to find a way to produce the silky smooth hazelnut gianduja without using palm oil. To achieve this, we have invested in a new technology that perfectly mixes and balances the ingredients so that our Whittaker’s Cocoa Pods, like the rest of our range, are proudly palm-free.

"The development of our Whittaker’s Cocoa Pods included investing in high-quality factory equipment and new processes as well as carefully refining our recipe. We hope chocolate lovers will agree that it was worth the wait for this decadent and delicious new treat. ”

Address sustainability

Whittaker's other co-chief operating officer Matt Whittaker says the company's commitment to sustainability as part of its quality focus includes ethical sourcing and packaging considerations.

“Like our entire range made from Ghanaian cocoa beans, our new Whittaker & # 39; s Cocoa Pods are Rainforest Alliance Certified and are all made in our only factory in Porirua, where we make all of our other chocolates from beans to bars ", he says.

Whittaker’s uses a mix of different types of packaging for the cocoa capsules.

Compostable material is used for the inner shell. The outer packaging layer of the 200 g gift box is made of cardboard and is fully recyclable, while the outer packaging layer of the 125 g bag is not recyclable or compostable.

Whittaker & # 39; s Cocoa Pods are now available in supermarkets across the country and Whittaker's online gift shop.
