Coles works with entrepreneurs to teach the workforce

Coles has partnered with "Award-Winning" Academic and Marketer Professor Mark Ritson to enhance internal marketing capacities through the delivery of his "Mini Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing" course.

With more than 20 years of experience teaching MBA programs at leading universities such as Melbourne Business School and London Business School, as well as marketing advisor to companies such as Unilever and PepsiCo, Professor Ritson brings through his CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accredited course.

The 12 week program was designed to develop marketing skills and high level strategic thinking and was completed by more than 130 Coles marketers, starting another cohort of 37 people.

Cole's Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Ronson says the course was designed to be flexible with work and personal commitments, complementing the experience and expertise of existing team members.

“We partnered with one of the most respected marketing professionals in the world to offer a mini MBA in marketing that adapts to work schedules and equips our team members with best practice industry knowledge,” she said.

Professor Ritson is pleased to be working with one of Australia's largest companies to advise on best practice marketing strategies and processes.

“When I started the Mini MBA in Marketing, it was clear that we needed forward-thinking, progressive marketing companies to work with. I was delighted when Coles emerged as one of the first Australian companies to show an interest in training its employees through the program, ”he said.

"By leading the entire team through the program at the same time, it was possible to focus more specifically on their business and ensure that the entire team had a common language and a common marketing approach."

As part of his Win Together strategy for team member engagement, Coles has made several investments in team member learning and development, including funding up to 1000 Coursera scholarships with some of the world's top universities like Yale, Duke and Stanford, plus a Mini – MBA in Strategic Category Management in partnership with Deakin University.
