This may come as a complete shock to you, but it turns out that most Aussies don't have a proper understanding of standard drinks or moderation (did you feel the sarcasm?).
An Ipsos survey of 1000 Aussies found that 48% of those surveyed do not know what a "standard drink" refers to.
In addition, 56% cannot count with certainty how many standard beverages they consumed at any given time.
However, it is fair to note that it can be confusing considering that alcoholic beverages like beer can range from 0.7 to 1.5 standard beverages per serving, and even more if you have a sip in the pub.
"Australians still don't know how to moderate and monitor their alcohol consumption," says Dr. Ross Walker.
"It's amazing that by 2021 90% of Aussies don't know how many standard drinks are in a pint of beer."
What is a standard drink?
Dr. Walker says, "It's exactly 12.5 ml or 10 g of pure alcohol (regardless of the drink) and it takes about an hour for the body to metabolize that amount of alcohol from its bloodstream."
ONE new warehouse, ONE serves exactly as the standard drink per can.
It is of course brewed with no additives or preservatives.
Spokesperson Mark Truelson says, “We know that Australian drinkers are starting to heed the health and wellness messages. 72% of Australians say they drink below the recommended amount of alcohol they should consume in a week.
"We're proud to bring something to the market that will help Australians make better decisions about another drink with friends."
