Talk to a local butcher and they'll tell you the same thing – the run up to Christmas was absolutely crazy about orders. It seems that Christmas 2020 is going to be one to be remembered.
Adam Stratton, delicate gourmet butcher
"I haven't seen anything like this in years," said Adam Stratton of Tender Gourmet Butchery in Hornsby, NSW.
"We attribute it to the fact that 2020 was a very difficult year and many people could not go out as usual or see their families very often. For this reason they are planning a particularly large Christmas party.
"My butcher colleagues across the country all report the same thing – we are all on our feet.
“With everyone locked down for part of the year, it feels like everyone really wants to let their hair down with a turbo-charged festive lunch for dinner this year.
"My customers tell me that they really open their shoulders when it comes to what they have planned – and that translates into the orders that we have seen that are way above previous years."
"Whether turkey, ham, pork, steaks, trunk or stumps – the order books for Christmas are out of control," he said.
Stratton is a multi-award winning butcher who runs the successful Tender Gourmet Butchery chain across Sydney. He has also represented Australia in the World Butchers' Challenge.
