If you are renovating your home, silicone sealant is one thing that you will definitely be using. It's easy to apply, but can be a little tricky to remove. Follow our tips on how to easily remove it from your home, start new renovations, and finally start decorating your home!
It has many benefits and it doesn't matter what type of surface it is applied to. Even so, good things end. But the stains and residues of the silicone seal never really leave the surface itself. To remove the silicone gasket from the surfaces of your home and make it look elegant again, you must follow this article!
One blade
To remove the silicone seals, you must first buy a flat-bladed knife. Make sure to use sandpaper to remove the sharp edges of the blade. You need to do this so that you don't use the sharp edges of the blade to damage plastic or a vulnerable surface. This prevents coatings from getting badly scratched.
Be gentle and take the precautions
Once your knife is ready, get your safety glasses first. Wear them and take all necessary precautions before getting to the main part. Now be sure to cut the silicone seal off where it meets the surface. Find the best place to cut. Be gentle with this and once you feel like you're removing it well, go deeper.
Silicone remover
A main solution would be to use a silicone sealant remover. Silicone sealant removers have proven to be a reliable solution for removing silicon from surfaces. These solutions weaken the silicon bonds when they are applied to the silicon surface. This makes them easy to remove with a knife without facing many hurdles. Other than that, it is recommended that you apply some kind of solvent cleaner to the silicone surfaces before removing. These cleaners weaken the strength of the silicone and when used gently, the silicone grip loosens. After a few minutes, you can rub off all of the silicone with any scraper or knife, which is too easy.
Say no to WD40
You may have read it on the internet or watched videos on YouTube that recommend using WD40 to remove silicone from the surface. Don't listen to any as WD40 can turn out to be the worst silicone removers out there. We recommend that you use a good quality silicone remover instead, which will make your task easier and less messy. Just say no to WD40.
Simple trick
When you are done applying the silicone remover or a cleaner, find the loose ends. Find the spot where the silicone has loose ends. When you find it, hold the loose end of the silicone and slowly but gradually peel off the silicone layer. Then use a utility knife to scrape off the rest of the silicone. If you want to remove a seam, just repeat the steps. Remember to take your time with this task. Full attention is required.
