Finish and Rural Aid deliver 1 million liters of water to 50 drought stricken farmers across Australia.
The record initiative extends from Roma, QLD to Carrieton, SA.
Given the severe impact of the drought on many farmers across Australia / Queensland, these much-needed supplies will help fill the tanks and boost farmers' supplies before summer.
"Despite some rainfall this year, the effects of the drought on farmers and communities across Australia are dragging on," said John Warlters, CEO of Rural Aid.
"There are still many producers who need our support to keep their farms going as they eagerly await much-needed and significant rain."
First launched in 2019, #FinishWaterWaste encourages Aussies to be smarter about their water usage at home.
This includes the promise to stop prewashing the dishes; An unnecessary habit that can waste up to 40 liters of water per load.
For every social media post that #FinishWaterWaste is tagged during the initiative, Finish donates 40 liters of water, which is delivered via Rural Aid to farmers affected by drought.
"Delivering a million liters in just one week is no easy task!" continues Mr. Warlters.
"These supplies will greatly help farmers prepare for summer and the hottest months of the future."
40 liter challenge
Finish also starts the #FinishWaterWaste 40 liter challenge.
Aussies are encouraged to live on 40 liters of water for a day and share their experiences on social media with the tag #FinishWaterWaste.
Comedian and Finnish Ambassador Tanya Hennessy said: “Taking on Finish's 40 liter challenge and recently spending three days in the drought-stricken community of Orange, New South Wales, opened our eyes.
"Taking part in the #FinishWaterWaste initiative is a very easy way to make a real difference."
