Magic Laundry Services, an independent laundry service for the California hospitality market, became the first laundry in California to receive Hygienically Clean Hospitality certification. This achievement reflects their commitment to laundry best management practices (BMPs) as confirmed by on-site inspection and the ability to produce hygienically clean fabrics as quantified by ongoing microbial testing.
Certification confirms their commitment to textile compliance and processing using BMPs as described in their quality assurance documentation. This is the focus for the assessment of critical control points by hygienically clean inspectors that minimize the risk. The independent third party inspection confirms substantial evidence that:
· Employees are trained and protected accordingly
· Managers understand the legal requirements
· OSHA Compliant
· The physical facility is working effectively
In addition, the facility has passed three rounds of result-based microbial tests that indicate that their processes produce hygienically clean bedding and clothing without the harmful presence of bacteria and fungi.
To maintain certification, laundries must pass quarterly tests to ensure that as laundry conditions change, such as water quality, fabric composition and laundry chemistry, the quality of the products being washed remains constant.
This process eliminates subjectivity by focusing on results and outcomes that verify that the textiles cleaned in these facilities meet the appropriate sanitary standards and BMPs for hotels, bed & breakfasts and other segments of the lodging industry.
Certified laundries use procedures, chemicals, and BMPs recognized by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and others. Introduced in 2012, Hygienically Clean comprises the international cleanliness standards for bedding and clothing for the healthcare sector used worldwide by the Certification Association for Professional Textile Services and the European Committee for Standardization.
Objective experts in epidemiology, infection control, nursing and other health professions work with TRSA washers to ensure that certification continues to enforce the highest standards of clean hospitality textiles production. With more than 100 years as the leading trade association in the textile service industry, TRSA's know-how in developing BMP for laundries is unmatched.
"Congratulations to Magic Laundry Services on their certification," said Joseph Ricci, President and CEO of TRSA. "This achievement demonstrates their commitment to building customer confidence that their laundry is taking all possible steps to prevent human disease."
