The HLAC monitoring webinar is now available online

The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC) has made the full audio / video presentation of its recent webinar "How Monitoring Your Laundry Processes Effective, Targeted and Safe" available online. The one-hour webinar took place on August 14th. is available on the HLAC website and also on YouTube.
"Our webinar was a great success and we are happy to announce," said Regina A. Baras, HLAC Executive Director. "We have had a robust and diverse involvement that included a cross-section of professionals in the health and laundry industries. In these times, those in charge are clearly looking for new solutions to improve their healthcare laundry processes."
The online webinar includes a discussion of the need for process monitoring. common contamination scenarios; the science of process monitoring; the importance of testing; and the experience of an HLAC-accredited laundry with newly available process monitoring tools.

The webinar focuses on proprietary extraction techniques that can be used to determine and quantify the most accurate representation of bioburden on laundry media: on hard surfaces, in the air, on linen, in water and on employees' hands.
During the presentation, Lumey Gamboa from Bay Linen explains the use of the new HLAC toolkit to monitor laundry processes (PMTK) by HLAC. "We decided to participate in the HLAC program in order to respond to the needs of our customers for more information about our processes, to have the data to monitor the outcome of these processes and to react proactively to possible changes necessary to continue to meet their expectations, "she said.
HLAC's PMTK was introduced last summer. At the time of its inception, Gicewicz said, "PMTK was a breakthrough innovation when it was first introduced, and its importance is likely to become even more evident in today's protected environment." Gicewicz is a former HLAC board chairman and current board member who chaired the committee that developed the toolkit on behalf of HLAC.
