The Augmented Actuality App from Electrolux Skilled for contactless upkeep

United Kingdom
Electrolux Professional trained Two Pairs of Eyes in laundry businesses when it launched a new augmented reality remote control app that customers can use to perform a range of service and maintenance tasks on their professional laundry equipment.

The new application, called Two Pairs of Eyes, is looking for remote-controlled, contactless support for customers in the face of social distance and uses augmented reality technology. Available on mobile and tablet devices, service and maintenance technicians can remotely guide customers through basic maintenance, repair, and service tasks, as well as through remote training and product guides. The app also ensures that all necessary remedial measures can be carried out on websites with strict access restrictions.

Two Pairs of Eyes is part of Electrolux Professional's Essentia offering and offers significant advantages over a standard video call. The problems are solved 30% faster and with 50% fewer errors. This, in turn, can reduce waiting times as well as the associated costs for service visits and ultimately minimize downtime for end users who are currently open and operating.

In addition to being able to speak to a service technician, end users can also use the app to order replacement parts and other accessories.

Darren Lockley, Head of the UK and Ireland Region at Electrolux Professional, commented: “Social distance is certainly a challenge when it comes to servicing and maintaining equipment. While there are some scenarios that require a site visit, there are a number of other cases where an issue can be easily remedied remotely. Two Pairs of Eyes is designed to do just that and can remove the confusion caused by other forms of remote diagnosis.

“The principle is simple because it allows the technician and the customer to share the same view on their smartphone or tablet. However, the magic really happens in virtual reality mode when the technician is able to literally provide manual guidance and support. It has been under development for some time. Given the current social distancing measures that are expected to take place in the coming months, we have doubled our efforts to make it available now. "

The Two Pairs of Eyes app is available on iOS, Android and Windows devices. For further information please click here.
