Prevent your glasses from fogging up when wearing a mask
Many people wear masks to prevent others from being infected with COVID19. It's a big adjustment for everyone, but for glasses wearers it's another problem – fogged up lenses. If you wear a mask and your warm breath hits the relatively cool surface of your glasses, fog is created.
This can be very irritating, especially if you walk from a hot street to an air-conditioned shop and suddenly can't see anything anymore.
Try these hacks!
Use a mask with a bridge of the nose
If your mask fits loosely over your nose, your breath can escape to your glasses. Many masks sold have flexible wire strips that allow you to bend and shape them to fit your nose. These serve multiple purposes by making them more comfortable and preventing your breath from hitting your glasses. Pay attention to this function when buying a mask.
Put your glasses over your mask
A simple hack: just pull up your mask so the top sits higher on your nose and wear your glasses over the material. Every breath you take should miss your glasses.
Use soap and water
If your glasses do not have a special coating, you can try washing them in soapy water and drying them very carefully. The idea is that the soap leaves a film that prevents the glasses from fogging up. Avoid soaps made with lotion.
Place a handkerchief on the inside of the mask
If you stick a folded handkerchief under your mask on the bridge of your nose, it can absorb escaping moisture.
Buy a commercial anti-fog product
There are a number of commercially available anti-fogging sprays and wipes that could be worth trying.
