Léon Wennekes leaves CINET and the business

INTERNATIONAL
Leon Wennekes, Secretary General of CINET, will step down from his position in early July.

Wennekes will move his career to other areas and stop working for Cinet and the other professional textile care (PTC) associations. He is preparing a trip (as far as Covid-19 allows) for the next few months. After July 1st, he will no longer be directly involved in the work of the associations, but will only carry out certain ad hoc research assignments as a freelancer while taking time out for a sabbatical.

Wennekes has been part of the family business M & P Bureauservice BV since 2003, which provides secretarial services for the professional associations. He has been involved in communication projects and event management since he was 15, first for the Dutch professional associations and later for Cinet. In those days, his tasks mainly focused on social media and PR activities as well as supporting event management.

Wennekes said: “I have always enjoyed working for the professional textile care industry, both internationally and in the Netherlands. In my social circles, it has always taken a bit to explain how professional textile care (as one of society's best kept secrets) actually ensures that all types of markets function properly (healthcare, hospitality, retail, industry, and retail). , but it never took long for people to understand the value.

“Despite the Corona crisis and the 'Great Lockdown', I have great confidence in the added value that PTC can bring to society and I believe that the future will be successful. I really regret that the planned events cannot continue due to Corona. The 2020 Global Awards were originally the high point that would have allowed me to say goodbye to so many great people personally.

“Nevertheless, I would like to use this moment and thank you all for the wonderful opportunity to work with you in recent years. It was really a great adventure to learn from a variety of different companies around the world. I realize that it was a very happy position for which I am sincerely grateful.

"In conclusion, I would like to thank my parents in particular for supporting me and pushing me to develop personally. It is not always easy to work with so many interests of different members, but the time is very precious for me and certainly has a wonderful time Starting point for the next steps in the future, which is currently still unclear. "

Kathy Bowry, editor of LCNi, said: “We all wish Leon all the best for his new life outside of textile care. It was a pleasure to work. It has been a pleasure working with him on various projects and we will miss him in the industry. "
