Cove cares about sustainability

Cove, a new brand on the block, was created by the Australian manufacturer of environmentally conscious household and personal care products, Nature Organics.

Cove is a reusable and refillable cleaning system designed to inspire people to make more sustainable decisions by adding value to their products and packaging in a world where plastics are thrown away.

"We want to change behavior and drive waste reduction by giving people the ability to store and reuse their cleaning products instead of just throwing away the packaging and adding to the Australian landfill problem," said Brent Vrdoljak, Brand Manager at Cove.

The range of surface, bathroom and glass cleaners from Cove is supplied in aluminum bottles that can be stored, refilled and reused. Aluminum is considered to be infinitely reusable and is recycled much more often in Australia than plastic.

"By designing packaging that is not only reusable but also looks good, we offer consumers a product they can be proud of and display on their counters, which in turn promotes reuse."

Refill bags with concentrated formulas are also available, which can be mixed with water directly from the tap.

“Most of the cleaning products in the supermarket are mostly water,” says Vrdoljak.

"By taking the water out of our refills and providing a concentrated product, we can offer smaller pack sizes and we don't send water unnecessarily across the country.

"Smaller package sizes mean we can fit more in one truck, which means fewer trucks on the road, which in turn means less emissions and a lower carbon footprint."

Cove refill bags use 80% less plastic than a standard bottle. The company partnered with REDcycle to ensure that they are recyclable through the return-to-store program, where soft plastics can be recycled and converted into park benches and play equipment.

The Cove cleaning range is now available in the Coles supermarkets. In the coming weeks, a hyper-concentrated washing liquid will be available in selected Ritchies stores.
