Imagine going to a conference or workshop, but you can participate in training pants and socks. That's how it is to take part in a virtual event. More specifically, a virtual cocktail mixing event!
A few weeks ago, One DayDream PR kindly invited me to take part in a virtual happy hour with Batch & Co that took place via Zoom.
The care package
Preparation is the key!
Zoom, if you have excluded yourself from technology in the past few months, is THE place for work meetings or just to meet virtually with friends / family.
"Zoom has been around for years, but many people have been reluctant to use it! I think it's a fantastic tool – it saves travel time, connects you faster and enables a captive audience, ”says Pru Corrigan, co-founder of Batch & Co.
Admittedly, I was a little underprepared before the event when I raced home, opened the link to the meeting, only to realize that I had to download zoom to my (slow) laptop, which brought me the event a few minutes late.
One of my favorite things was the small preparation package from Batch & Co, which contained the three sprinkles (guava, strawberry & rose; double grapefruit & rose; pear, fig & pinot grigio), an alcohol-free soda (guava,). Strawberry & Vanilla), a lemon, grape fruit, rosemary, cucumber and a surprise gin!
It ensured that everyone who attended the virtual event had the right ingredients and was ready to start the event.
Thomas Kiltorp, creator & Pru Corrigan, co-founder
A host with the most crucial
The entire mixing event was easy to follow (even for a slow vegetable / fruit slicer like me) thanks to creator Thomas Kiltorp and co-founder Pru Corrigan who stopped between drinks to answer questions and the details of the brand and to reveal how it started.
“Thomas, the creator of Batch & Co, is such a talented and fun guy, he loves to entertain, mix drinks and in my PR business we had two virtual events the previous week and they were great, so said me to the team – we are doing this, ”explains Ms. Corrigan.
"The media will have fun, learn about the products, enjoy drinks while sitting at their kitchen bench."
I had sent questions that I had before the event started, which made it so much easier to get exactly the information I wanted. Of course, the hosts still answered questions that were broadcast live.
"We were very happy with the event," said Ms. Corrigan.
"We got nice emails after class about how much the media enjoyed it, they loved the drinks and we got press from the Batch & Co event – so that's a good result."
At the end of the event there was a good, old-fashioned trivia round in which the winner won a pack of the splashes of his choice! I will be responsible for being late and also trying to write down any other questions I had during the event as the reason I didn't win the trivia …
The finished products! (Note: I don't see professional beverage mixing in my future)
My top tips for participating in a virtual event:
- Make sure that Zoom has already been downloaded to your device so you won't be late (that's actually … my bad).
- Send questions before the event so that the hosts can respond during the event.
- Have fun and record everything you can!
When asked how much the food and beverage industry has changed as a result of COVID-19, Ms. Corrigan said that they were financially a few months behind: “… I think we will make up for it quickly – people need to get back in To be okay with changes. It bothered so many people very much, but I think the F&B industry has been lagging behind with its marketing and PR campaigns and plans for some time. I think this has given the industry the necessary shake and the industry will do it bigger and better than ever before. ”
