Carrington Textiles and its UK headquarters, Pincroft, have partnered with a UK biotech company that has developed technology that prevents and protects the transmission of viruses in the air, including infections such as influenza, MERS, SARS, colds and covid -19.
Virustatic Shield is the result of 10 years of intensive research and collaboration with scientists from the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology to create an innovative antiviral fabric coating on a lightweight, easy-to-wear snood that guarantees 360-degree and 96% protection against them Viruses in the air.
The product acts as a barrier that attracts, captures and kills viruses in airborne droplets that are 15 times smaller than a human hair. It is therefore safe to wear and touch, as the virus becomes inactive after touching the substance.
According to the textile manufacturer Pincroft, the soft feel of the fabric from which these "virus-killing" snoods are made is a convenient alternative to the usual face masks, which can be difficult to wear for long periods of time.
The company also emphasized that the nature of the fabric and the coating it contains should be carried, reused and touched safely after being exposed to germs and then washed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Pincroft CEO Mike Collins said, “We are very proud and excited to be part of this innovative project as protection is needed on days when the fight against the coronavirus becomes part of everyone's life.
"Our production capacity is now running as usual and Pincroft can make millions of these snoods in the hope that they will help protect life by making them available to caregivers, patients and the public."
