One in three wage and salary managers admits that recent scandals overpaid for jobs – with subsequent fines, warnings, and legal action from fair work – have led to changes in the culture of their wages, human resources, and finance departments.
The survey found that 38% of payroll managers report that their organization has changed some compliance processes or systems in relation to their own pay and employee obligations.
Another 17% say their organization is committed to making changes in 2020. However, an alarming 46% of payroll managers say that their organization hasn't made any changes or made changes in 2020.
“Here, too, the payroll team training seems to be overlooked as a focus on fighting underpayments by employees. Only 6% of the payroll departments say they will focus on education this year, ”said Tracey Angwin, CEO of the Australian Payroll Association.
"The mistakes behind the scandals are often due to inadequate training for payroll managers."
The result comes from a survey by the Australian Payroll Association among more than 1,100 payroll accountants.
